“The Last Supper” (original by Leonardo Da Vinci) was painted by Alfred Brune Leopold Clausen for Central Christian Church in Mesa, Arizona in 1967. Mr. Clausen was born in Hamburg, Germany in 1883. He studied at the Art Academy, Hamburg and later in Genoa, Italy, then in Spain, France, Holland and again Germany. “In studying Clausen’s work we think of the great art of the past, biblical art, an art we feared was dead, but it is spiritually encouraging to see Clausen find the theme of Jesus Christ as modern and appealing as it was a thousand years ago…” (Letter: “Tampa Daily News,” Jan. 23, 1926).
